In Memory of…

Gary Hill

Gary Hill

My friend Gary Hill was as kind and gentle a person as one could know. Fifty years ago, while the rest of us were scrambling with decisions about college or career, Gary was the one Millikan senior who seemed to know exactly the path he wished to follow, albeit one less traveled. Gary very much looked forward to permanently returning to the Montana ranch where he had worked summers, this despite being part of one of Long Beach's most prominent families.

Sure enough, only a few days after we had double-dated to the Disneyland Grad Nite, Gary was off to the ranch. In September his girlfriend reported that he was very happy there, but unfortunately, as time passed, I lost contact with a really nice person. I was very saddened to see him in the "In Memory Of" section. I see he passed in Los Angeles and I don't know when he returned. I pray his ranch life was what he hoped it would be.
