I received an e-mail from Bob some time back. He was living near Beaumont, CA. Bob had entered a burning house to save some occupants and in the process severely damaged his lungs. He was not a fireman but a courageous citizen. Following the injury he was on full time oxygen and suffering from the effects of the injury. I'm sure it hastened his demise. He lived in my neighborhood around Cubberly and we played together during our early years. May he rest in peace.
I was so sad to see Bob Witt had passed away. In high school I had a crush on him but he never knew who I was. He was in my history class and I think his purpose was to drive Ms. Fisher crazy and he did a good job. After high school Gene Watkins introduced Bob to me. We started dating and after some time were engaged but realized it wouldn't work. Through the years I always wondered if he was OK.
