James Arnold Hall VIEW PROFILE

James Arnold Hall
September 8, 1950 - November 12, 2021

Jim Hall has gone on his next spiritual adventure as he left this earthly plane on November 12, 2021, at the age of 71.

He was born and raised in Southern California by Ethel and Leslie Hall, who preceded him in death. His younger, beloved sister, Leslie Anne Hall Pollard also preceded him. He was married to Anne Percival for 14 years and they remained friends for the rest of his life.

He spent most of his life in California, but also lived, loved, and studied in Oregon, Texas, and Washington.
But it was in Northern California where he truly explored and developed his passions of creating, spiritual healing, and herbal lore. He was a contractor who remodeled and built homes all over the Bay Area. He studied and taught at the Berkeley Psychic Institute starting in 1979 for over 20 years. He had two Master's degrees from John F. Kennedy University: one in Arts and Consciousness and the other in Holistic Health Education. He also studied and taught at the California School of Herbal Studies for over a decade. It was here that he was able to combine his love of herbs and their healing properties with his knowledge of spiritual healing. He shared his knowledge of herbs and alternative healing modalities at the West County Health Center, at Oliver's where he was a Master Herbalist, and he had his own private practice that specialized in alternative cancer treatment and soul retrieval.

Jim comes from a family of spiritual healers. He continued this tradition by becoming a generous teacher and healer who touched many lives. He leaves behind many friends, and he will be truly missed.

Jim was a deep thinker and a kind soul with a gentle sense of humor. He was not a close friend, but the fact that I can remember him after all of this time bespeaks the kind of impression he left on people.

I remember Jim with deep respect and admiration. Flashback to being 15 1/2 years old...Jim, another boy, and I had driver training that summer. We had the unfortunate experience of having a mean, gruff sheriff named Meredith as our instructor. This guy was obnoxious, rude, and had no business teaching kids to drive. He especially didn't like girls.

We would take turns driving and every time I got behind the wheel he would yell and berate me. I wanted to quit after the first day but Jim said, "You are doing fine." The next few days were more of the same experience. This angry cop even had us drive over to his house so he could check on his two sons who were supposed to be doing yard work. His boys scrambled when they saw him as he shouted out the window for them to get to work.

Each time it was my turn to drive the insults and criticism started. Jim was sitting behind me and said, "Why do you keep picking on her? She isn't doing anything wrong." The instructor jammed on the brakes, turned, and started yelling at Jim to shut up. This guy was a real jerk!

We all passed the course and each time I saw Jim at school he would smile and ask, "How are you doing?" I was so impressed that at such a young age, he was willing and able to speak up against this bully.

Jim was a kind and gentle soul. May he rest in peace.

Jim was a good friend. He was always fun to be around and could be a bit of a rebel sometimes. He owned a green Volkswagen bettle back in the day that was customized with a state of the art 8 track cassette player. It had large speakers on each door and could blow you out when he put in Creams "Sunshine of Your Love." He would join a number of us occasionally at Truett Memorial Southern Baptist church in Long Beach (He went because they had good looking girls!) And after a thoughtful sermon go out into the parking lot and blast rock music for us. Those were teenage defiant good times. RIP
