In Memory of…

Randy Bernard

Randy Bernard

Randy was accidently killed, while serving in Viet Nam - 9/21/1971

Randy's sister, Diane also went to Millikan. His uncle William Bernard was a teacher at Millikan: Auto shop and English.

—by Ray Bernard, Randy's Cousin & Wilson Grad. They were very close.

Randy was my cousin, and since our dad’s hung out, Randy and I (Ray Bernard) became best friends and hung out also. We grew up together and spent our formative years together. Tragically he was killed in Vietnam by an accident on base not a result of enemy actions.

We grew from kids to young men together, as teens we bought our first car together a 49 Chevy. It was amazing how much Randy loved working on cars and all things mechanical. He had gone to college and acquired his Aircraft Airframe and Power-plant mechanics licenses, and we were working on our commercial pilots licenses together, with intentions of becoming airline pilots. Randy had also married and was on his way to a good life. My most significant impression of him was how easy going, good natured and non-judgmental he was. Randy would always be your friend no matter what

Double dated and hung out with Randy and Sam in high school. Went to their wedding (Randy asked me how his moustashe looked; he'd put a little mascara in it so it would show up in the pictures, blonde that he was). Saw him just before he went to Nam. I still remember the moment l got the news that he'd neen killed. I've been to The Wall in D.C. and got a rubbing of his name. I've put flowers on his grave. He was a sweet, easy-going guy. I will never forget him.
