Tom’s daughter posted the following on Facebook:
It is with deep sadness that I let you know my dear father passed away in his sleep last night. Though my heart is broken, I’m at peace knowing my dad is with his Lord and Savior.
Over the last few days, my sister and I were gifted special moments with my dad that I will cherish forever. He was very alert and we were able to tell him how much we love him. We were able to share some good laughs, hug him, and pray together. It gives me peace knowing his last days were happy and he was surrounded by his friends and family.
Thank you to all my my dad’s friends and those from my dad’s church and men’s bible study, who’ve come to visit and pray for him. My sister and I are grateful for the prayers and support. We could not have gotten through this time without it.
Memorial services are still to be determined, but we will likely have a celebration of life at my father’s church Kindred in Anaheim Hills. Will share soon.
I love you, Dad.

I'm so sorry for your losss. I'm stunned. Tom has been very active in our Millikan High 1968 class since we graduated. His loss will be felt by all of us. He was an inspiration to everyone through his dedication and faith.
I grieve for you. God Bless his soul.

I didn't know Tom during high school. However, I got to know him via the 68 alumni page that he created on Facebook, in advance of the 50-year Reunion. When I suggested a website was needed, he readily agreed and set about convincing the Reunion Committee and recruiting me to create one. So, this website would not exist, were it not for Tom.
I enjoyed working with Tom on the 50th Reunion. May he rest in peace.

I echo what Wayne said, it was great to have Tom's contributions to keeping the Class of '68 connected.
Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend the memorial service, but I wish all the best to his family and friends.

Tom was a very special friend to me in high school. He was compassionate, and helped me through a very tough time for my family. I will never forget him for the special person he was. I wish Tom's family the very best, especially knowing how fortunate they are to have had such a loving man in their lives.

Just learned that there is a fundraiser for Tom's family, some of us may want to contribute:
https://www.gofundme.com/f/Lighthipe
"This page is for support for Tom Lighthipe’s family. After battling a long fight for four months on life support due to complications with pneumonia, Tom passed away peacefully in the early hours on Saturday, November 23. His daughter, Sarah Lighthipe, resigned from her career in order to monitor his condition and also to care for her mother, who has acute leukemia and mobility issues. This fund is helping to cover Tom’s funeral costs, as well as nursing costs and costs of daily living for Sarah as she continues to care for her mother during this challenging season (food, gas, rent, etc.). Unfortunately, Tom does not have life insurance."
