Jim Patten

Jim Patten

James "Jim" Patten, age 58 of Clovis died at his home on Tuesday, January 13, 2009.

Jim was born on April 9, 1950, in Ventura to his parents, Phil and Arline Patten. He grew up in Garden Grove; Elko, Nevada; and Long Beach.

He attended University of California, Davis and graduated with a BS degree in Civil Engineering. At UC Davis, he met his future wife, Janet. They married in 1976, and were married for 24 years, having three children together.

Jim was a civil engineer for 35 years, with 20 years of service at his last employer, Provost & Pritchard. Jim loved the outdoors and was interested in gardening, R-C airplanes, and was a loyal FRPC member. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Phil Patten. He was survived by his mother, Arline Patten; his brother, Tom Patten; sister-in-law, Nancy Patten; niece, Amy Patten; nephew, Dan Patten; his son, Eric Patten; daughter-inlaw, Ashley Patten; his son, Andrew Patten; his daughter, Jennifer Dunbar; son-in-law, Jason Dunbar; and his grandson, Liam Dunbar.

He was greatly loved and is gravely missed by many dear family members, friends and colleagues. A Memorial Service was held at Hope Lutheran Church on Thursday, January 22, 2009,

After graduating from Millikan, Jim and I were roommates in the dorms at UC Davis during our freshman year. Unfortunately we lost track of each other over the years.
